Many consider it the most beautiful small cinema in Croatia, which receives 323 spectators. Here is the center of film events in Rijeka and a gathering place for all local film lovers. As part of the chain of Croatian independent cinemas, Art-kino Croatia shows a selected film program throughout the year.
Art- kino has also established its position on the international and national film scene. Outside of Rijeka, Art-kino is recognized as a venue with a profiled programme and as a pleasant and enjoyable place visited by many, which has been confirmed in the fact that many film premieres take place in Rijeka while many film artists, critics and theoreticians visit the city as guests. Thus, Art-kino has become an important part of the city’s identity and one of the tools for the international promotion.
Art-kino is much more than a place for screening and watching films – it is a place for discussion, education, communication and research of motion pictures, film reflection and reflection on film.
PAVLINSKI TRG
RIJEKA
Pavlinski trg is an integral part of the partially preserved complex urban structure of Rijeka's Old Town and the strokes of historic squares and streets that follow the sequence of the city's former late antique ramparts.
The square was defined in its present spatial basis in the 19th century by the demolition of the church of the Three Kings built around 1615, and the Pavlin monastery and house "Verneda" were once oriented towards the square. The courtyard façade of the monastery, ie the façade of the building at Sokol kula 4b, has been somewhat preserved from that period. The facade of that building served as a kind of canvas for the painting of the famous Rijeka artist Vojo Radoičić, which was painted in 2012 as the background of his sculpture - the ship "Good Sea".
Today, Pavlinski trg is a pleasant and lively place for socializing and relaxation of all generations of Rijeka residents. During the 5th History Film Festival, Pavlinski trg will become an open-air cinema with a large LED screen (dimensions 7 x 3 meters) where you will be able to watch the best documentaries with themes from the Homeland War.
ŠTACIJON
TRAIN STATION MATULJI
One of the most important railway stations in Croatia, Matulji Station was once the main connection with European capitals and greatly contributed to the tourist prosperity of neighboring Opatija.
The wealthier Viennese bourgeoisie, nobility and artistic elite visited Opatija as their Riviera, due to the mild climate especially as a winter resort, and at the Matulji railway station they disembarked from trains. In the waiting room, where crowned heads were once received, we improvised a small cinema that would show films about trains and railways.
The station will thus become the first stop on our journey through imaginary (film) and real landscapes.
