Tamás Barta is a legendary Hungarian rock guitarist, the frontman of the most famous group behind the Iron Curtain - LOKOMOTIV GT. In 1974, during their American tour, Barta decided not to return to Hungary and continued to live in America. He left his bandmates and mother Edith. Under the law at the time, he committed the "crime of refusing to return home" and was sentenced to two years in prison and total confiscation of property in Hungary. After the death of Tamás Barta’s mother, her adopted daughter Judit found 12 audio cassettes. These were tapes that Tamás and his mother used for correspondence for eight years. The tapes contain shockingly intimate, honest and dramatic “conversations” between a mother and son living in two different worlds tens of thousands of miles away.
