In a masterclass called THE ART OF MAKING DOCUMENTARIES IN THE FAKE NEWS ERA Academy Award-winning producers of OJ: Made in America, Caroline Waterlow and Nina Krstić will discuss their experiences as filmmakers focused on historical events and archival storytelling. This multimedia lecture argues that the documentary form is an answer to fake news era, and as a result, both the demand and need for documentaries has never been greater. Waterlow discusses the urgency of archive preservation, the value of research beyond search engines, and the importance of revisiting stories for new generations.

WOMEN BEHIND THE CAMERA is a masterclass where the acclaimed American cinematographer born in Rijeka Svetlana Cvetko will share her experiences as a female in the film industry. By sharing clips from her films Stuntwomen, Yours Sincerely, Lois Weber, Miss Representation, Inequality for All, Inside Job and OJ:Made in America she will talk about the status of women in film industry now and in the past and tackle the topic of social issues as subject matters in documentary filmmaking.

The subject of this presentation is ”Film periodicals and film journalism in Serbia” with special overview on the only two film magazines left in Serbia: ”Filaž” (published by The Cultural Centre of Niš) and ”Kinoteka” (published by The Yugoslav Film Archive, Belgrade), as well as classic film authors in the focus of publishing activities within Niški kulturni centar. Film critic and editor Dejan Dabić will present books on John Ford, Jean-Pierre Melville and Claude Chabrol.
