Phillip Rodriguez is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and veteran content provider for PBS. A graduate of U.C. Berkeley, he has an M.A. in Latin American Studies (Honors) and an M.F.A. in Film and Television from UCLA. Frankfurt, 20 December 1963, a German Federal Court undertakes for the first time to prosecute Nazi perpetrators. A state prosecutor, unheard of to this date, is behind the scenes, his name is Fritz Bauer. Opposing the political propensity to oblivion and silence, Bauer’s intention is not only to judge Nazi perpetrators but also to compel the entire German nation to confront the truth about its past. The country is utterly shocked, and the German youth discover with horror the atrocities committed during their fathers’ generation. Nothing will ever be the same again.

CATHERINE BERNSTEIN is a French director and scriptwriter. She directed several  short films including Zohra at the Beach (1996) which won the Aathon Award at Lokarno Festival. In Germany, she filmed  three documentaries on the legacy of Nazism: Oma, The Green Grapes and The Absentees. She continued with Assassination of a Modiste on the spoliation of the Jews (Etoile de la SCAM 2007). She directed Le Chant de la Baleine a fiction and a documentary on the philosopher Michel Serres. In 2008, she shot Asylum and a short film Nue (Best film at Message to Man Festival in Saint Pétersbourg). Catherine Bernstein also made a film essay Alan Turing, the code of life in 2014 and T4 – Doctor Under Nazism (Audience Award at Lunchon Festival).  The Bookseller (codirected with Assen Vladimirov) tells of the two years that the French writer Romain Gary  spent in Bulgaria at the beginning of the Cold War (Etoile de la SCAM 2015 – Special Jury Prize,   Bulgarian Critics Prize,  Bulgarian Film Archive Award  at Golden Rhyton Festival, Plovdiv).

A film about Sako, an eccentric Indonesian man with Chinese roots. Sako is struggling with his past. He is traumatized because of the murder of his innocent father, who was one of the approximately half to a million alleged communists that were killed in the transition period to the Suharto regime in Indonesia in 1965.   To deal with his trauma, Sako ventured out with his camcorder and filmed people close to him and talked with them about their traumatic experiences.

Even decades after their active time the athletes of the former socialist German Democratic Republic have to fight with the late sequences of excessive training, drugs and doping. Many people have also suffered psychological suffering. The extent to which athletes who started very early have been the victims of massive verbal sexualized and other forms of violence is crucial.
Most people do not want or can not talk about it because they are discouraged by public pressure or by their dictatorship experiences. In this dcoumentary four world-class female athletes from the GDR come together and share their pain. Germany will certainly have to deal with histopic for another 30 years, and the intensity of the athletes’ aging process will increase.

Benjamin Unger was born in 1980. He studied at German studies in Potsdam. At NDR Mecklenburg-Vorpommern radio-television he worked as an intern, and then he was employed there. Since 2010, he is the author of television reportages. Some of the films he has signed as a director are “Trauma of East German Sports” (2014), “Traumatic Childhood-Actor Dramatization in DDR” (2017) and “Blues of the  Boxer” (2017).

André Keil was born in 1967 in Crivitz. He was a professional athlete in Schwerin and was engaged in sailing until 1989. He studied journalism in Berlin and Leipzig. From 1992 to 2005 he was Director of the NDR Mecklenburg-Vorpommern sports program and sports reporter for football, boxing and sailing at ARD. Since 2005 she has been working as a director of NDR Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Some of his films are: “When Athletes Become Spies” (2012), “Trauma of East German Sports” (2014) and “Traumatic Childhood – Abuse of Athletes in DDR” (2017).

Comic Books Go To War (2010) won Best Reportage at the Montreal International Film on Art Festival and was nominated for the Europa Prize. His feature documentary The Strange Disappearance of the Bees (2010) drew the highest audience for a documentary on Arte and received un Etoile du SCAM and Best Director (Nature) at the Sichuan TV Festival. In 2011 Daniels was nominated for an Emmy as Director of Photography on Nova’s Building the Great Cathedrals. More recently he has written and directed a series of biographical docu-dramas: Lady Liberty (2014), Leonardo da Vinci: The Man Who Saved Science (2017), and The Secret Versailles of Marie-Antoinette (2018).

On the 3rd of August, 2014 ISIS militants attacked Shingal city and its surrounding villages, they killed thousands Ezidi men and kidnapped their wives and daughters, after 4 years of that disaster and the liberation of Shingal and Mosul by Peshmarga and Iraqi army forces, 68 mass graves have been found and more than a thousand women and girls have been returned to their families or they have been re-purchased again from ISIL, the fate of 3000 women, girls and children is still unknown.

Khasraw Hama Karim, (born in Iraq in 1971) is an Iraqi – German director, producer, and camera operator whose career lasts more than two decades. He graduated from high school and in 1996, migrated to Germany and currently resides in Cologne where he graduated from Academy of Media Arts. As a Camera Operator and film director, he worked in Iraq, German, Netherlands and Italy and has directed more than 18 documentaries and one short film.

Rrecently some one from village of Asker fund out those pictures. then he stars searches from village to another looking for the relatives of those missing in Anfal Military operations.He wants to give them the photographs of their missing people. With every photo there are touching stories. For example, an old man and an old woman lost their five children in 1988 and have no pictures. Thirty years later, They are able to see pictures of their five children.

November 1st 1943, in Conca della Campania, a tiny village in a south Italian province, 19 civilians are slaughtered by a Nazi patrol. Graziella Di Gasparro, daughter of one of the fallen, strenuously fought for years to keep alive the memory of that forgotten massacre. The murder of Graziella’s father was the brutal epilogue of the German occupation of that area. Graziella di Gasparro, on November 1st 2016 – after years of suffering and struggles – finally had a day of relief from her tragic family story. In fact, on the 73rd commemoration of the massacre, the German ambassador in Italy attended the institutional ceremony in order to demonstrate the commitment of German govern to reconcile the two European Countries.

A panic, fueled by a dark rumor, pushes parents to massively send their children to the United States to save them from communist peril. This rumor, widely relayed by the network of the Catholic Church, states that Fidel Castro intends to “nationalize” Cuban children by sending them to the Soviet Union to be educated. What social and political context led parents to believe such a rumor? During the cold war, what was the role of the CIA? This exfiltration operation bears a name, “Operation Peter Pan”.

Eric Michaud is a documentary filmmaker. An anthropologist specialized in rituals and customs, his career leads him to travel the world to discover civilizations. Passionate about the people he meets, He photographs these moments to highlight the cultural differences but also this humanity that unites us. He has written and directed about thirty documentaries on themes as varied as history, religion, or societies for French and international broadcasters (Arte / Canal + / France 5 / Planet / TV5 Monde / Voyage / TSR / RFO / France O / RTBF / TSR / Fox …).

In Casablanca, one conflict has been persisting for more than five years now, between Najat, Aziza, Fanida, the State and activists of Human rights. Each one of themis dedicated, in the midst of a frustrating see-saw relationship, to their idea about the future of a unique cemetery in Morocco, a place that is still virtual, place of memory, built for the victims of the Bread Revolt of June, 1981. Rachid, 30 years old, its caretaker, lives in total silence and isolation, in a cemetery that no one visits and without knowing what tomorrow will bring.

This is the amazing story of Noah Klieger, who was a French Jewish teenager during WWII. He smuggled Jewish children from Belgium to Switzerland. He was captured by the Germans and was sent to the Auschwitz death camp. When he arrived at the camp, he claimed himself as a boxer which saved his life. Noah returns for the first time to the places that marked his life before immigrating to Israel as a crew member on board the famous boat “Exodus – 1947”. He was the last remnant of the boxing team of Auschwitz death camp, the oldest active journalist in the world. Noah Klieger is an example of courage, optimism and resilience.  He is the Jewish “Forrest Gump”.

Documentary film ”Tomos: Made in Yugoslavia” tries to explore culturally and sociologically the phenomenon of Tomos in the coastal region and beyond, as Tomos in his golden years surpasses only the technical heritage. It means a global story. In the regions around Koper, during the 1950s, many workers were unemployed. The places were without factories or major industrial centers. Trieste was cut off with its production organizations, and the locals from Koper and its surroundings, without any possibility of providing an adequate piece of bread. In such circumstances, the Sežana Motor Vehicle Factory was created in 1954, which was then moved to Koper.

After having finished my studies at the Faculty of Social Studies I began my career as a television director at the regional Rtv Center Koper –Capodistria. For the last ten years I have made various television shows and documentaries on location. In 2015 I won the first prize for the Best Short Documentary (In the Name of the Father) at the 4. Interrives competition organized by COPEAM, an association devoted to the promotion of dialogue and cultural integration in the Mediterranean Region. The next year I won the first prize with the documentary My „Beautiful“ Life After Leaving Auschwitz in a transnational competition which unites all audio-video products of the Italian minority in Slovenia and Croatia.

Big Lies” concept was coined by Adolf Hitler as a propaganda weapon in his famous “Mein Kampf” but was first used by Joseph Stalin to cover up massive man-made hunger in the Soviet Union in the early 30s. The main character is an American writer who travels to Russia these days. She meets the last survivors of Holodomor. Soon she understands that the war of Russian peasantry, started by Bolsheviks 100 years ago, isn’t over yet. She also uncovers many controversial facts about the role played by American media and business in the early ’30s in Soviet Russia. Even more staggering – she starts to understand the connection between those events and current domination of fake news and total mistrust on today’s post-truth world.

Dr. Igor Runov was born in Moscow, Russia in 1952. After graduating Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1975 he joined USA and Canada Institute (USSR Academy of Sciences) where he received his Doctors Degree in International economics four years later. In the next twelve years he gained considerable international knowledge and experience working for the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Ministry of Foreign Relations in Russia and abroad. During the last ten years he is increasingly involved in filmmaking, video and internet industries. He produced and directed several documentary films which received international recognition and awards, developed a new concept-genre in musical video industry called VIE CLIPS. In 2014 he authored the concept of “SovLandia” – a new revolutionary approach to creation of self-organized and self-developing virtual, internet based societies and states.

The Gulag was first captured by Solzhenitsyn in his opus, Gulag Archipelago. Never before the stories of women and women’s experience in these camp was told in
an international documentary film. A collection of unique and candid interviews with women who survived the Stalin’s repression of the 1930s.

THE WALDHEIM WALTZ is a film about truth and lies or “alternative facts”. About individual and collective consciousness. Ruth Beckermann documents the process of uncovering former Unesco Secretary General Kurt Waldheim’s wartime past. It shows the swift succession of new allegations by the World Jewish Congress during his Austrian presidential campaign, the denial by the Austrian political class, the outbreak of anti-Semitism and patriotism, which finally led to his election. Created from international archive material and what Beckermann shot at the time, the film analyses the collapse of the Austrian grand illusion: having been the first victim of the Nazis.

Ruth Beckermann was born in Vienna where she also spent her childhood. After her studies in journalism and history of art in Vienna, Tel Aviv and New York, she took her degree in 1977 at the University of Vienna. She since contributed as a journalist to several Austrian and Swiss magazines. In 1978 she (co-)founded the distribution company Filmladen in which she was active for seven years. In this period Ruth Beckermann started to make films and write books. Since 1985 she works as a writer and filmmaker. Her film ”The Dreamed Ones” was selected at many international festivals and won several awards. In 2018, Ruth Beckermann finished her latest film ”The Waldheim Waltz” and won, among other prizes, the Glashütte – original documentary award of the Berlin international film festival.

She began a journey into the past, back into the childhood of her Russian mother and her five sisters, all of whom struggled with fear, famine and war in Stalin’s Russia; experiences that left them scarred to their very soul. Aliona’s quest into the lives and fate of her family becomes a loving, poignant, and poetic film with Chekhovian characters. Accompanied by the magical animation of acclaimed Italian artist Simone Massi, unimaginable events in the Soviet past are given an immediate charge. Along with the stories of ordinary people living in the small farmhouse, the film maker tells the tale of Soviet terror, immense bravery and a fear that has never left those four walls.
